Dental Treatment Advice

This advice is given as general guidance on the care of your dental implants, porcelain crowns or veneers and should be used along with other written and verbal advice given to you in our dental clinic abroad.

Pre-Treatment Advice

It is essential that your teeth and gums are in the best possible health before cosmetic procedures are undertaken.

In order to achieve this our dentist may have to carry out some preliminary procedures to stabilise/eliminate any active disease processes. As part of this our dentist will review the health of your gums. It is vital that your gums are pink and firm before, during and after any cosmetic dental procedure. Gums that are red and swollen are a sign of periodontal disease, and if they bleed on brushing or when the dentist gently probes around the teeth, this will lead to a compromised cosmetic result.

It is important that you attend appointments with our dental hygienist if prescribed by our dentist during your visit. This allows for any problems to be identified and appropriate action taken to avoid any deterioration in both your natural teeth and the restorations that have been placed.

Our dentist and/or dental hygienist will advise you on the action needed to achieve and maintain the health of your gums. The long term stability of your cosmetic dental treatment is dependent on you following this advice meticulously. Unhealthy gums may mean that you cannot proceed with your dental treatment abroad, as the implants, porcelain crowns or veneers may fail due to this and invalidate your guarantee with us.

Provisional Restorations (temporary crowns or veneers)

Your provisional restorations are a vital element in allowing you and our dentist to plan the final restorations. They also protect your teeth while your permanent restorations are being crafted. You need to be particularly diligent with the care of your mouth at this time.

General After Care Advice

Following your cosmetic dental treatment abroad it is very important that you take good care of your teeth to ensure many trouble free years of smiling.

Teeth are meant to be used for eating and when used for this, teeth both artificial or natural, will last for many years without any trouble. Unfortunately some people use teeth inappropriately as tools for example to tear open bags or biting finger nails. There are also many other situations where people bite pens, pencils or many other things. When this happens extra stresses are put on the teeth and can cause wear or fracture of teeth and restorations. Please use your teeth for eating and implements, such as scissors, for other tasks.

Please make sure that you attend a dental hygiene session at least once every 6 months to ensure that your guarantee on the dental work done by us stays in top condition.
