If having dental treatment abroad seems a daunting proposition, take the time to read this page step by step. We’re sure it’ll help you gain confidence in your decision to have dental treatment abroad with us.
1. Fill in the online form & schedule a 5min call.
This first step allows us to have some basic information about your dental needs. You’ll then be asked immediately to schedule a quick 5-minute call with us so that we can ask some more questions to better understand your current situation, and give you our undivided attention.
This call will usually be scheduled on the same or the next day of your initial enquiry.
2. Schedule a “consultation call”
If you are a suitable candidate for treatment in our clinic after speaking to us, we’ll send you an in-depth questionnaire and the chance to schedule a consultation call with one of our patient coordinators. During this call, we will gather as much information as possible to create a precise quote and treatment plan.
You’ll also be able to ask any more questions on your mind.
3. Read your estimated quote
Once you’ve received your estimated dental treatment abroad quote and treatment plan, you should know what’s involved, how much it’s going to cost, and how long your dental treatment abroad will take. With this information, you can then decide if we’re the right dental clinic for you. Remember that we have no hidden or extra costs involved. The only other price factors you need to consider are your overnight accommodation if needed, and the prices of the cheap flights from the UK to Bratislava / Vienna.
4. Choose a suitable date
In most cases, we’re able to treat new dental clients from the UK as soon as tomorrow, however, there’s a list of dates here that are already fully booked. A good idea is to find a suitable date that fits you, check the prices of the flights online, and if it seems reasonable, check it against our “fully booked” page.
5. Pick a suitable flight
The usual flight time from the UK to Bratislava / Vienna is around 2 hrs. The most popular airline used by our former UK patients is Ryanair.com which flies directly to Bratislava and flight prices range from £10 to £100 one way. Try to avoid bank holidays, Christmas and July / August if you want to aim for cheaper airfare.
6. Choose your accommodation
Most of our UK patients opt for a self-catering apartment in the town centre and close to the dental clinic. This works out the cheapest option if there’s two of you (£30 per night) which has the added benefit of no check out time. If you’re travelling alone, there’s a good bed and breakfast facility about 3-minute walk from the clinic. However, there’s also a full range of 3, 4 and 5-star hotels around Piestany spa. If you want to splash out a little, let us know, and we’ll check if we can get you a special deal from this end.
7. All sorted!
Once you’ve sorted the steps above, simply book the flights and send them to our team via email, together with your desired choice of accommodation, and our team will take care of the rest. You’ll receive full confirmation of treatment by email with practical information about your visit, where to eat out, the currency, culture, what to expect, and where you’ll be accommodated.
8. Get met at the airport
Dano – our resident driver, provides a free airport transfer for all UK patients to and from the dental clinic or their accommodation if you arrive late evening. The journey takes about 40 minutes in normal traffic, and Dano will give you your patient welcome pack complete with a map of the town, useful phrases in Slovak and keys to your apartment. If you arrive in the evening, Dano can show you where the local restaurants are or take you to Tesco to pick up some food.
9. Have your free consultation
Although we already know what dental treatment you have opted for, Dr. Marek will take an up-to-date digital OPG X-ray (free of charge) to help him plan your dental treatment, and will run through the whole procedure with you, answering any last questions you may have about your dental treatment, and offering advice. A final treatment plan and a quotation is then made up by our receptionist whilst you have a cup of tea or coffee, watch TV or surf the internet using our free Wi-Fi or computer terminal.
10. Have your dental treatment
We are a very relaxed clinic, and we like to do as much work as possible in each session to save multiple visits. Some dental treatment sessions in our clinic can last 2-3 hrs; however, let the dental team know if you need a break. We use a digitally applied local anaesthetic for most of our dental care, creating a painless dental treatment experience. And if you’re a music fan, please feel free to use your earphones or headphones and fall asleep in the dental chair. 🙂
11. Pay for your dental treatment
After each session, you’ll be presented with an updated payment sheet detailing your treatment and its cost. Payment is in English Pounds (£) (no Scottish notes, please), although you can pay in Euros (€ ) if you prefer, which is calculated at the National Bank exchange rate of that given day. We also accept Visa / Mastercard, Bitcoin or you can make an internet bank transfer directly in the clinic waiting room.
12. Go home with a smile
Before you leave our clinic, we’ll advise you on how to look after your new teeth. Your feedback is valuable to us, and we’ll ask you to fill in a short questionnaire before your leave and possibly write an independent review of your dental treatment when you get home. We’re sure your friends and family will marvel at your dental work abroad, so please send them on to us!
13. Aftercare
Your dental treatment through Dental Holiday is fully guaranteed. In the unlikely case that you should ever have any problems whatsoever, you can return, and we’ll take a look and replace or repair if necessary. However, if needed, you will have to pay for the flights and accommodation. Make sure you visit for the day once a year for a check-up and find a local dental hygienist you see every 6 months to clean up your smile and ensure that your new teeth last for many years.
14. Useful numbers
You may want to keep these numbers handy during your trip and possibly give a copy to someone looking out for you at home.
